Welcome!

Hello everyone - welcome to a new school year and congratulations on being one step closer to becoming a physician. I am glad you are interested in the specialty of PM&R and hope that you will join our club in exploring this growing and exciting field of medicine. Dr. Wieting (our faculty adviser) is our wonderful resource for learning about physiatry and PM&R and will be giving an introductory talk on PM&R in September at our clubs first meeting. Once we finalize a date you will be able to find the location and time posted on our facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/110645795704487/). I hope you will come learn about PM&R and get involved in our club!

MDA Pre-Graduation BBQ

Please Join Us on the Friday before graduation for a BBQ Dinner Fundraiser benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association.  This BBQ also serves as great opportunity for our 4th year students and their families to have one last "Two Docs BBQ" Dinner before they head out to residency.  All plates $5.

Physiatry Panel Discussion

Please join us Thursday, April 25th, at 6:30 for dinner and a very interesting panel discussion with several Physiatrists from eastern TN.

 

General Meeting

Please join us this Tuseday, March 12th 2013 at 5:00PM if you are interested in volunteering for a week long summer camp this summer.  A representative from the Muscular Dystrophy Association will be speaking about the camp and explaining how volunteers are selected.  Come get all the info and enjoy some pizza compliments of the PM&R Club.  Our new officer selections will also take place at the end of the meeting.

Acupuncture Clinic

We are very excited to welcome Dr. Lawrence Prokop, DO who will be teaching a 2 day acupuncture course on February 23 and 24th. Please see the email about how to register for the Acupuncture Clinic. If you are a member and didn't get an email, please email one of the officers and we will sign you up.  Right now registration is only open to Club members.  If the 30 spots have not filled up by next week then we will be opening it up to other students.

General Meeting Wrap Up

We had a great turnout tonight for our very informative lecture on Prolotherapy given by Dr. Eva Shay, DO.  We would also like to thank Drs. Wieting and Dumbrowski for attending the meeting and also for sharing some of there knowledge of the topic.  Thanks to everyone who attended and to Dr. Shay for donating her time and delivering a wonderful presentation.  Please check back near the end of the month for more information about our next journal club meeting on Monday, October 1.

Jounal Club 9/4/2012

First ever Journal Club, this Tuesday, September 4th at 7:00AM in the 2nd Floor Lounge in DCOM. We will be discussing a review of this month's article, but we will also be discussing how future meetings should be organized and if they should be held during breakfast or lunch. Anyone can come to this first one, not just members. Just email Sampson or Justin to get a copy of the article.
